This compact USB‑C tester plugs directly into a port to probe every signal line, using the internal ESD protection diodes of connected TYPE-C ICs OR PD CONTROLLER. You can directly check the USB-C Port and all lines connecting to the Type-C chip directly or PD chip , and also know what protocol is activated on this input.
The tester can check all these pins
Power & Configuration
CC1, CC2 (A5, B5): Configuration Channel – determines plug orientation, establishes host/device role, negotiates power level, and signals alternate modes.
Data PINS
D+, D- (A6, A7, B6, B7): USB 2.0 differential pairs – always connected regardless of plug orientation.
TX/RX pairs (A2/A3/A10/A11 and B2/B3/B10/B11): SuperSpeed signals for:
USB 3.1 Gen 1/2
Thunderbolt 3/4
DisplayPort (via Alt Mode)
These lines are flipped depending on plug orientation.
Sideband / Auxiliary
SBU1, SBU2 (A8, B8):
DisplayPort Alt Mode (AUX channel)
Analog audio (e.g., headphone dongles)
USB Debug Accessory Mode (UART)
No HS, SBU, or CC → No CC negotiation; no PD connection .
HS detected, SBU absent → Likely USB‑3.x only.
HS & SBU detected → Indicates support for DP/Thunderbolt or USB‑3.x with SBU-based features.
SBU only → Debug or audio path present, but no USB‑3.x.
